To create a password on Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles you must type all numbers. It was simple as that.
When we are booking a flight we are often eager to find the best airline award program to redeem our miles on. Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles program has plenty of offerings we love including sweet spot deals on US flights to Hawaii or great redemption rates on partners such as United, Lufthansa, as well as Turkish Airlines.
I’ve flowing Turkish Airlines a number of times before including from Newark to Istanbul in Business Class and from Istanbul to Kayseri in Economy.
Itching to take advantage of the perks Turkish Airlines program offers we were quick to sign up for our account. However, upon trying to complete the form we ran into a bit of trouble.
It wouldn’t let me create a password.
This was extremely odd and frustrated me from signing up to a highly coveted program. I finally resolved it in the simplest way possible and wanted to share how incase others were having trouble.
I landed on Turkish Airlines homepage and was looking for the way to join the program.
I found the “Sign Up” button in the top right and it immediately brought me to the form. This looked easy enough and the information they wanted looked pretty standard.
I started by filling out all the required information and had no trouble up until this point.
Then I got to the “Security Details” and it asked me to create a password. Easy enough I went for it.
Frustratingly every time I started creating a password it immediately would remove the letters.
This was odd so I decided to switch browsers and try again. Nope, same issue.
What was happening? Why couldn’t I create a password?
I decided to Google a solution and funny enough I found others having the same issue dating back to 2017! They mentioned it was a known issue with Turkish Airlines website and to this day hasn’t been resolved.
I was beginning to lose hope when I finally came across the simplest solution I never knew I needed.
To create a password on Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles you must type all numbers. It was simple as that.
As typically with the entire process the numbers can be no less than 6 characters but also no more. This was too funny.
Anyway, after I laughed at the simplicity of this poor user experience I was able to create my account and finally sign up.
I am now a proud(?) Turkish Airlines Miles & Smiles member and have successful learned to create a password on what should be a story not worth of an article, but here we are.

THANK YOU!!!!
cheers such a lifesaver!
THANK YOU
wow. thank you for this. i was between multiple devices and browsers and slowly dying inside as my passwords kept deleting
This level of security is a JOKE, it’s non-security, based on password standards from 1995. Easily hackable and is a SHAME to Turkish Airlines.
And even after getting an account set up and a confirmation email from TA, it won’t let me log in!
I agree, Turkish is way behind in the tech department. Did you try using the mobile app? It’s actually development by a different company so sometimes when you have trouble logging into the website the app will still work.
Thanks!
THANK YOU! Had the same problem!
Turkish Airline obviously does not like all numeric password, they put in restriction now not accepting 3 consecutive digits, now the old problem of the data entry field not accepting A-Za-z happens again in the “Verify password” field!
Yes jon in
It doesn’t work now. I figured six digits meant all numbers, and when the first ones I typed in didn’t work I read the info and it said you couldn’t have the same number more than twice. So I fixed that and *supposedly* it created my account. But even though I’m entering the 9 digit number beginning with TK and the password that it accepted, I keep being told that what I have entered is invalid and I can’t log into my Miles & Smiles account. I’m not smiling. I tried to get through on Turkish Airlines and it too didn’t recognize my M&S number but there was NO WAY to get past the recorded options to speak to an agent. I’m ready to give up and I really wanted to use Turkish airlines to book rewards flights. If anyone has a phone number or way to reach TA directly, I’d appreciate it!
Hi Teke – it appears Turkish made an update and no longer accepts 3 consecutive digits. If you are still having trouble but believe you created an account I suggest try logging in via the mobile app. It was created by a separate technology provider and tends to work more reliably.
If that still doesn’t work I suggest filing a feedback form on their website here:
https://www.turkishairlines.com/en-int/any-questions/customer-relations/feedback/
Once you’ve completed the feedback form it will provide you with a reference number. Try calling Turkish call center and get directed to the reservations department. This will ensure you get an agent. Tell them you would like to speak to customer service and provide them with your reference number and they should be able to resolve your issue.
Turkish Airlines technology is very frustrating so hoping you get your issue resolved since the reward flight rates are generally great.
I’ve used various airlines services all over the world but Turkish airlines website + app + registration/ sign in workflow is the worst so far. I don’t know how it is possible to be so much a user unfriendly service. Apart from from all nonsense (6 digits password seriously?) I can not log in into the website once I am registered on the app.
July 2023 and the Turkish Airlines still doesn’t allow to create a password (since 2017 !)
In this “guide” the magic trick is “you must type all numbers” I and the 15 people i’ve made read this “guide don’t see at all what it means so it doesn’t help at all. A link to this “guide” has been made on another forum and noone managed to create and confirm a password on the website. So…Could someone please explain this in a more clear way ? if my (imaginary password) would be “a1b2c3” what means you “must type all numbers” ? I mean if my password si “a1b2c3” of course il wont type “abc” and would type the numbers too…”a1b2c3″. A paswword with 6 numbers (like 123456 is rejected too) so…Please help.
thank you! world needs heroes like you :)
What are people so thankful for? Not only is the TA website ridiculous, but I find this ‘solution’ touts how simple and obvious it is EXCEPT, the TA website specifically says you cannot use more than 3 numbers in a row AND When you do – the passwords don’t match and back to square one… what stupidity all around….
